Mabel was supposed to come but exams were just a few days away. Instead, the invitation was directed to me. Wee! :D

it was just the guys.. all girls were having exams and work and all.. and it was the sea, the sea and all the wonders in it.

Yes, the weather was fine, the sun shining bright clearing the morning sky.

Finally arriving at Yaringa after a few moments of getting lost on the way. Manual navigation.. pfft!

On board the boat that belongs to Capt'n Andrew. Sweet ride. Leaving the docks and off to the battlefield.

we went scouting through a few fishing spots for formidable catches.. we ended up with tonnes of "illegal" juviniles munching away on our bait.

have you... met fisherman Merv? he's quite the fisher. caught quite a few big ones. Hobbies include social fishing. if you know what i mean [:<

Oh, its just a cheeky seal. Damn, you chased away all our potential customers.

He stayed around us for about 15 minutes and we got fed up coz there wasn't anyone coming to "langgan" us.

trying hard to smile this little bugger.. i wonder why. Maybe its because he ate all the small fries we threw back into the sea. At least someone is having a good time.

Soon after, we decided to head back. After all, we spent some great length of time at sea. I'd say we did 10 hours.

Amongst the cool things we stumbled upon was this really ancient submarine, just lying there rusty and untouched. Apparently its on sale on e-bay for a dollar. Cool huh?

These are the catches we brought home that are edible. It was good fun though. Great way to relax after a long semester of nonsense.

I wonder, will we make it as good fishermen out in the sea instead of becoming professional engineers? Judging by our fuel budget to our catch ratio, i'd say EPIC FAIL:1

Guess what? those fishes we caught turned out to be quite tasty~ tenderly fresh! yumm... as for the culinary counterpart, these fishes can be seasoned with garlic and parsley wrapped with aluminium foil with a squeeze of lemon after roasting in the oven. zucchini and lemon works wonders too.

On a side note, to those out there who still have exams, i wish you all the best and be sure to put your game face on!

Uni life's been the same, so I'm not gonna talk so much about it. Finals are closing up, all assignments are due in a week or two. Its just work work work *Orc peon's grunting*

On other news, I learned how to play cricket! Sweeeeet sport. haha.. we were trashing the house of this friend of mine, people came to complain. :p Drinking while playing sports = High and hungry. That night, I had 4 burgers and 2 litres of water. All these done after friday afternoon tests! :D Next thing I'm looking forward to is a roadtrip!

First Paycheck

Just when I thought I was free from assignments, 3 more just got assigned to me. sienz~

On a side note, I got my first paycheck! AUD80 babeh! :D Basically, I had to attend a survey for about 90 minutes with a group of other people and then get paid. As simple as that! It was a good opportunity for me to learn more about the local current affairs and what the Australian experience was like to different students.

In the end, I came home with AUD80, a couple of new friends and rode the tram all by myself! Not to mention I was lost on the way to the venue TEEHEE!

52 Year of independence! Malaysia is just an amazing place to be. I'm proud to be a Malaysian. :)

Last night, Malaysian's of Melbourne University (MoMU) went to CQ Bar to celebrate the 52nd aniversary of the liberation of Malaysia. From the turnout, we got to see how many Malaysians were actually in Melbourne which was approximately 300 people. To our surprise, Kenny Sia was there.. haha. He was sort of a celebrity I guess.. people crowding about him just to take pictures with him.

Fun night as we joined the countdown to Hari Merdeka.

I hope everyone in Malaysia now are doing fine. Have fun today, coz we Malaysians deserve it.

District 9

Last Saturday, Mervyn and Mabel both had plans for their evening which was watching the exclusive performance of David Copperfield in Melbourne. Chris heard about it and knew I wasn't involved since the show was pre-booked before my arrival at Melbourne. Coincidently, Chris and I were interested in watching District 9, while the others weren't.

So, we went on our little visit to Hoyts Cinema at Melbourne Central to get some tickets. To our surprise, on a Saturday night, the cinema playing District 9 at 9:20pm was FULL. Yes, on a Saturday night where people go clubbing and stuff? Instead, we bought the tickets for the show at 11:45pm.

Within that many hours of "goyang kaki" time, we headed for dinner at Coconut House on Elizabeth Street and then to his apartment for a few matches of Heroes of Newerth! :)

I would love to write a review on this movie but the timing is an inconvenience. All in all, I would like to give this movie the credit it deserves though its a low-budget CGI film. It is a good movie to watch if you enjoy comedy, action and a little thrill. Finally, we don't need famous actors to accentuate the performance of a movie. Man I just love the course I picked. So far, Year 1 Mech Eng has been a dream. That is, so far. :p Never before has anyone enjoyed studying and solving problems like I do.

Though, I haven't been playing DotA eversince I came to Australia but I do have ocassional HoN matches.

Property of Mervyn Sia, got broken in. Fortunately, there were no casualties.

The loot was worthless to the robbers. Not to the owner.

I love the way things are and hope this trend would continue throughout this semester.

I'm sleepy, I'm tired and so restricted.

Release me from the bindings of these shackles of time.

Me, Myself and Apple

One day, I had this craving for apple crumble.. Like the one my ex used to bake. So, I scavaged through the kitchen racks, high and low, to get the closest ingredients that match an apple crumble recipe. With the help of camera magic, thats the final product of my baking adventure.

Not only that, I also had to replace some utensils with similar ones.ie. F.O.S. Metal Water Container as a rolling pin and Chopping Board as rolling board.

Alright, here are the steps I took to make my very own Apple Crumble. Enjoy the journey!

Step 1: Making the base pastry. I used frozen butter, flour, a little self-raising flour, sugar, salt and ice water.

Step 2: Making the filling. I used green cooking apples, cinammon sticks, sugar and a little maple syrup.

Step 3: Making the topping. I used Marie biscuits as you can see with added self raising flour, sugar, a coat of milk and some butter.

Step 4: Bake the dish. So far so good, my dish looked perfectly fine or so I thought.

Step 5: Wait like a hungry vulture for that goddamn thing to finish baking at 2am. tick tock tick tock. The clock is ticking and I am so friggin tired.

Step 6: Test the product visually. My apple crumble didn't seem to have that appetizing look, however, it managed to be sliced off nicely, not as I expected. At least I could made it look nice-r on camera. :p

Step 7: Taste the product. SUICIDAL SUICIDAL~! Just as words can describe and just like the distortion of contrast, its self-explanatory.

Step 8: Disposal of failed product. EPIC FAIL!

Well, that was a long but fun journey for me although the outcome wasn't as expected. Looks like I've got lots more to learn about baking. Tribute to Ophelia Ong Su-Ching who baked me a decent Apple Crumble. This attempt has helped me clear part of the enigma that is the art of cooking. I shall train my pastry-making and baking skills but not anytime soon. At least, not for a couple of weeks.

I've gotten my mind off a few things, doing well so far in university and its the weekend! I'll be watching G.I. Joe with Chris later. As for tomorrow, its S9 time. Can't wait!

Dare You to Move

Last Friday, MoMU organised a ski trip to Falls Creek. I joined in and had a whooping great time!

Packed up and ready to go.

Skipping the arrival due to extreme laziness and fatigue.

My rented boots and getting ready to go boarding.

All geared up, just waiting for the lift and off to some lessons!

The lessons got us started but I was too bored. So, we went for a few Green(Beginner) slopes. Splendid. (:

Soon after, we were resting along Wombat's Ramble, one of the many available Green slopes on Falls Creek.

It was rather fun as we were snowboarding the whole of Friday from 10:00am until about 4:00pm. Replenishing our energy by devouring bars of Meusli. Hahaha!

Food there was just too expensive lah... easily AU$20 at minimum. We did go hunting for food but most of the time, we relied on our vast supply of Shin-Ramen! XD

After a long day, we would be aching all over but that didn't stop us from having tonnes of fun throughout the night and boarding the next day.

Just resting while enjoying the scenery~ On Saturday, we went for a short continuation of the previous class and bailed. This time, we were more confident. This led us to boldly going to the Blue(Intermediate) slopes.

I can't tell you just how amazing the thrill and adreneline that was pumping through my veins. It was simply, orgasmic. :p I had my can of V and hyperly strolling and transversing through those steep Blue slopes. It was the awesomest time I ever had man. Just pure awesome.

Snowboarding for life! I just can't wait to get up onto another icy mountain and just conquer some of the slopes the mountains have to offer.

Skeetle Texas Poker. These are the "chips" we use to play our poker. AU$1 for 20 skeetles.

Our 2-day Poker night spree. :D Come to think of it, I was actually practicing before the trip on Facebook. hehehe~

I need to sort alot of things right now since I have to get used to university lifestyle. It's been a very busy week for me since I started classes. Orientation

This is my University, RMIT which stands for Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. RMIT does not have a campus and is made up of many corporate buildings. Mostly, the buildings are clustered in the city centre but some are scattered up to 2 blocks away.

Yesterday was orientation day and it was scheduled as such:

- SAMME (Sch of Aero, Mech & Manu Eng) Orientation from 9.00am to 11.00am

Only about 40 people attended (80% of population according to Program Manager) and easily 1/3 of that population belong to Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering while the rest belong to Aeronautical and Aviations. And among the entire population, there was only a handful of girls in sight.

- International Students' Orientation from 11.00am to 3.00pm

As soon as i reached the designated venue, or at least the level of which the venue is, the place was packed with international student. Apparently, the venue could not accomodate the vast number of international students. We were all packed near the elevator up to the venue entrance with confused expressions. The administration then ordered those who were stuck outside the venue to fill up student details and they will reschedule the orientation another time.

It was a failed opportunity to make international friends from other programmes but I'm glad I befriended some of the locals from my programme. Nice guys.

Prologue

Its been exactly 6 days, right down to the exact hour since my journey began in this foreign world, Melbourne City, Australia. You may say that its a start of a new beginning, maybe also the continuation to my once-so-exciting adventures. I say, its both. New experiences, new feelings, old experiences, old feelings all condensed to this very moment where I start a new book, a new adventure, and a new goal.

Life here so far has been just awesome with my cousins, Mabel and Mervyn who were so kind to support me in my current troubled moments, not to forget friends, who gave up going back to Malaysia and stayed during the cold winters to keep me company in my moment of solitude. Though, i still remember everything i gave up to come here, my love, my family, my friends, my society, my piano; you name it. My whole life has been left behind just bringing those i am able to in a tight briefcase.

I'm fortunate i have people to guide me around this city for i was like a "Kampung Boy" when i arrived. So much to adapt to, the currency, traffic rules and regulations, the society, the food, not to mention the weather. Its been a tough week you might say for a "Kampung Boy", especially when i was Master Jaywalker, or Mr. Kiamsiap.. furthermore, i had to give up my once known title as the "Waterfall".. instead of sweating like one, i get brainfreeze whenever i attempt to outdo the extreme cold with one of my workouts. The Sun in Melbourne is as blissful as the icy cold water you would regularly crave in the tropics of Malaysia's urban cities. However, i'll admit that the food, is just amazing.. i have not yet craved for another Malaysian dish so far in my expedition here in Australia though they have managed to empty my pockets in the blink of an eye.

Apart from all those experiences, i had to remind myself how much i needed to get ready to get back on my feet and face the University life. It started off pretty well with fighting to fill up my timetable according to my preferences for about an hour... struggling. Bank account opened, tax file number obtained, health insurance covered, enrolled into the SAMME which stands for School of Aerospace, Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering which comprises of Aviation, Automobile, Aeronautics, Mechanics, Manufacturing and Mechatronics. Sounds cool eh? i know. Anyway, i have limited myself to a number of entertainments and leisure activities. It is certainly hard to get out of the holiday mood since i've been at it for 7 months, the routines i've had. But, what needs to be done has to be done and with no excuse i will definitely make myself achieve my goal.

At the end of the day, i hope all is well and may my journey bring enjoyable and dignifying memories i wish not to forget. I've closed an old book and decided to keep it as my momento. I do wish my new book will bring great adventures to me and the people around me. I would once thank you all again for all your support and the time you've shared with me. Since the night has drained every remaining energy within my conscious mind, i shall recuperate and enjoy the silent winter night.
